For the second time, Operation Friendship Bayern e.V.organized an exchange for adults. This time, two couples from the state of Indiana in the USA, who had been responsible for this program in the States last year, were guests in the district. And so the joy of seeing each other again was great.

Of course, a tour of the castles was an absolute must. With sunshine and blue skies, there was a fantastic view of Neuschwanstein Castle from the Marienbrücke (bridge). The tour then continued along the picturesque Plansee lake in Austria to Linderhof Castle. Other destinations included Nuremberg with a visit to the Hole Prison, the Czech capital Prague, a boat trip on the Danube to Weltenburg Abbey followed by a stroll through the old town of Regensburg and a climb up to Walhalla.
But destinations around Neustadt were also on the program, such as the Flossenbürg memorial, the library in Waldsassen and the basilica there. They also got to know Bavarian hospitality with a visit to the Amberg Dult with a hearty snack and a pint of beer as well as a Zoiglstube in Windischeschenbach.
Finally, Ludwig Koch, head of the Floß brewery, gave them an insight into the art of brewing beer. Afterwards, they sat together in the outdoor area with a cold beer and a hearty snack. As one of the American guests was a whiskey lover, the whiskeys distilled by Koch himself were of course also sampled.

Finally, a Scottish tradition was practiced at the farewell evening, namely drinking from a “quaich” as a sign of friendship. Of course, it was filled with delicious Scotch whisky.
During these ten days, everyone got to know each other even better personally, so it was not easy to say goodbye.
